Eugenio Tibaldi

Eugenio Tibaldi (b. 1977, Alba) has always been attracted by marginal dynamics and aesthetics, and his work is based on the complex relationship between economics and contemporary landscape. The margin is seen more as a mental than a geographical condition, becoming the starting point of research developed in Istanbul, Napoli, Cairo, Roma, Thessaloniki, Berlin, Verona, Havana, Bucharest, Torino, Caracas, Brussels, Tirana, Addis Ababa. In the series titled Democratization of the Human Defect (2021) presented in the Disegni section, Tibaldi investigates the relationship of human beings and power in its immaterial representation, namely that of desire that knows no race, no epoch. In this sequence of over one hundred lithographs found by chance by the artist in a house where he took up residence, and commissioned by the House of Savoy (the last royal family of Italy) to represent their holdings, castles are the sign of power, of control over the territory of Piedmont. The artist intervenes on the original lithograph by adding a device for erotic practices shown in watercolour, and a seal of his creation as a symbol of power, as if to certify the uniqueness of a potential minority in the guise of representation of desire.
