Bekhbaatar Enkhtur s (b. 1994, Ulaanbaatar) sculptural practice is often closely related to the place that hosts it. Zoomorphic figures, including wolves, dragons, and foxes, form a repertoire drawing on Mongolian myths and traditions. Drawing on visual references arising from chance encounters or from characteristic elements of the cultural and religious context of his homeland, the artist conceives the exhibition space as a place inhabited by a series of presences that belong to an imaginary world while being strongly anchored in reality. His sculptures reflect on the temporality and transience of matter, aiming to bring out the intrinsic qualities of the materials used, both organic and inorganic, giving them a semblance of perceptible life in their ongoing change and deterioration as evidenced by their physical impressions.
With the passing of time, every object and every being loses its original meaning to take on a new significance, a new function. Energy never runs out but only changes its form over time, in turn creating a different energy.
