Carlos Amorales (b. 1970, Mexico City) is a multidisciplinary artist who has experimented over the years with various expressive practices, including performance, installation, video, and drawing. One constant in his work is the challenging approach to interaction with contexts and languages not familiar to him, utilized like a musical score. For this edition of Disegni, Amorales has created a series of works on paper in collaboration with a group of choristers, inventing his own personal graphic method for conducting choirs. Utilizing primary colours, handwritten text, points, and lines, Amorales moves with elegance in the world of sound, establishing a visual relationship between the movements of the lips of the singers, the technical gestures of the hands of the choirmaster and the notation, in a sinuous evolution of symbols in acrylic.
I am a multidisciplinary artist who explore the limits of language to venture into the field of cultural experimentation. I use graphic production as a tool to develop linguistic structures.
