Eva Koe tkov (b. 1982, Prague) has had a passion for drawing since childhood, always moving through the world with a sketchbook. She is interested in the socio-anthropological analysis of norms and forms of control that regulate our society, and she begins every work on paper, manipulated found and cut-out images on the theme of the body, the language of theatre, and contemporary models of education and socialization. For Disegni, Koe tkov has created an exhibition that delves back into the last ten years of her production on paper, revealing the various expressive modes employed. Collage plays a central role for the artist because it allows immediate hybridisation of two distant worlds, such as those of human beings and animals, for example, or of inanimate objects and living beings, creating nebulous atmospheres typical of the contemporary world. With an enveloping installation dominated by paper in different forms and guises, the artist triggers contrasting associations, reinvestigating several series of collages of the present and the recent past.
Stories are one level of creation, another is drawing. Just as I write a lot, I draw a lot, recording things around me. I draw more in the form of metaphors, and then this drawing is often translated into space.
