Critical text
In her work Sara Enrico (b. 1979, Biella) addresses the concept of weaving on a material and figurative level, and as a conceptual process, like weaving together multiple languages. Using manual and digital processes and the basic materials of painting such as industrial and textile materials, she explores the possibilities of a surface in relation to its own body and context. Shapes seem to assume postures and certain anthropomorphic traits, and the exercise of sight translated in plastic terms by a combination of processes and materials. The interests she cultivates are transversal and revolve around experimentation with materials such as canvas, oil colours and pigments, concrete, fabric, and bronze. The results of this dialogue embody narrative tensions hidden in their own substance. Her works are created through a transference, and in doing so she evokes rather than represents.

The artist’s voice
I'm interested in the notions of surface, haptic, materiality, and corporeality. Combining tailoring and architectural aspects, my sculptures explore transitory states and liminal interpretations of a body in relation to gesture and space.
