Lenard Giller (b. 1997, Munich) looks at the relationship between reality and its translation and representation through time-based technologies. Spanning film, sound, sculptural elements and installation, Giller’s practice unpacks the material, structural, and underlying emotional components that affect and condition impressions as well as memory. Giller's interests lie in subverting structures as well as genres through which perception is shaped, by focusing on the material and emotional associations generated by narrating elements. The artist assembles found as well as self-produced images and sounds that find themselves in a constant dialogue between analog and digital dimensions. Giller is interested in the duality of proximity and distance as well as in the intertwinement of reality and its representation. As such, he often delves into the space opened by deformities, delays, and glitches-determined by contingency and chance-that can emerge during attempts to capture the tangible reality.
