Radamés “Juni” Figueroa

Radamés “Juni” Figueroa’s native San Juan, Puerto Rico (b. 1982, Puerto Rico), is his main subject. Originally trained as a painter, Juni delves into a city where the cultural influences and political complexities of the United States and Latin America converge. His multi-layered work spans paintings, sculptures, relational and all-encompassing installations and often incorporates found objects gathered on the streets, where everyday life in the tropics is shifted into an art context. Since he started to work professionally, Juni has been playing with the stereotypes often associated with the tropics with self-implicating critical humour.
